Sram X9 and X0 replacement cages

Post by leondelmonte on Mon Feb 07, 2011 8:15 pm

Ok, so I have bent a number of cages, and have never been able to get replacement parts for this, so I will try to make some happen.
who here would be interested in replacement cages as well??

Short?
Long?
Medium??

Also, how much are you willing to pay????? $10, 20??

Im a mechanical designer, and will make some for myself, for sure, just want to know if it would be worth it making a run of about 10 or 20 pieces, lmk

I know this is not the place to ask this, but its where most will be looking at

would be a cool idea, but something people don't think about until it's too late........ only weight weenies think of changing these for obvious reasons in advance (and carbons run up to 150 bucks). though i run saints i think the bling factor of a polished billet (and heat treated) cage would be worth a couple ducketts. not familiar w/ x-9, x0... how easy are the front plates (that are dierctly mounted to the derailer) to get off?

pretty cool idea.
but my X0 is carbon fiber and wouldn't change it out for an aluminum one.
btw, both plates are very easy to remove / install. i just had to replace a cracked jockey pulley (the lower one) $38 for the set at BBling. f'ck that's pricey.

I'd be interested. Would it be possible to make a long cage into a short or medium? I assume so but wasn't sure if there was any difference in the derailleur body too. $20 seems very reasonable.

Only fucked one Saint mech & replaced it for $40. I have 2 X0 mechs, so I'd be interested, but would prolly go with X9 with the KHS deal.

My SRAM X0 rear derailleur exploded a couple years back. Still have what's left. Wondering if it could be salvaged?

I'd go for med or short cage.

some derrailleurs are fiixable, some are not, it depends on how the cages are attached.

What ever came of this? I could use a mid cage to fit my X9 9spd. THanks.

SRAM cages are easily available but are stupidly expensive unless you have a wholesale connection and even then it is half the price of a new der. You can see the service exploded views views on the SRAM site and you will see the prob...

I'd take one , in size medium. Color would be cool but not mandatory since that piece gets chewed up from trail rash all the time. Sign me up for one!!! (SRAM XO) [b]
